Today we are roasting a turkey stuffed with dressing and smothered in herbs and spices. There are tomatoes to be stuffed with tuna salad, mustard-y deviled eggs to be made, an olive salad to be tossed, pine nuts to be roasted and ham to be rolled with cream cheese and fire-roasted red peppers. And more truffles to be made.Tomorrow, we'll have the full dinner with sweet potato casserole, des haricots verts and baked cauliflower.
There may be no better way to spend a holiday than preparing food for those you love.
Merry Christmas. Joyeux Noel.

Joyeux Noël à vous aussi. Your blog has been a welcome find over the weeks. Have a peaceful Christmas.
I know you are going to have a delicious dinner-and a wonderful celebration!Happy Hoildays!
What a lovely way to spend the day.
I'm cooking Christmas Eve Dinner at my s-i-l's house - a different kitchen is a challenge, but the help and family is wonderful!
Have a very Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Mimi - I hope your holiday is warm and blessed.
Warm is the operative word, Andrea! We are due for a cold spell. It's been mild here for the last 10 days or so.
Katie, I know what you mean. Working in someone else's kitchen is always a reminder of how much we do in our own kitchen by rote.
Jan, the turkey is already smelling wonderful. The finger foods are almost all made.
Lu, I am so glad you found my kitchen. It's as if we are visiting each other's worlds (or kitchens) and sharing ourselves and our food.
Merry Christmas Mimi. Lovely, lovely photo - a gift in itself!
Thank you, Christine. We just made your drink, "The Faraway." My husband really like it. I may have added a bit more vodka than called for...
A Merry Christmas, mimi! Hope you have a wonderful holiday :D
Thank you, Nerissa! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season as well. I love the little bird on your blog!
We are all so fortunate, aren't we? What a wonderful way to spend the holidays! Lovely photo as well... the lighting is just perfect.
Yes, we are fortunate. I woke up this morning feeling that way, too.
Thank you, Kristen, for the kind words about the photo. I have been working hard to find a style that suits this blog and I am getting there, I think.
I've learned so much since I've been blogging — another reason to be thankful.
