If you are lucky enough to be in Paris on May 1, you will find the entire city is perfumed with lilies of the valley from the flower vendors. Buy a sprig, just because you should. The very idea is charming.
The lambent sun playing with the early green leaves captivated me, too. The photo was taken on Rue St. Antoine in the Marais.
I got an e-mail the other day, asking me to help promote the movie "Ratatouille." I'd seen the trailer a few weeks back at the theater and thought it was kind of cute: A rat named Remy seeking to become a chef in Paris. More power to him, I say, but it sounds like a lot of work.
You know how I feel about eating ratatouille. I've certainly talked about it enough. I was not sure how I felt about shilling for Disney.Pixar, however. Then I went back and re-read the e-mail and saw the contest.
Disney.Pixar is giving away a trip to Paris as it promotes "Ratatouille." I thought you might be interested in giving that a shot.
I know I will. How can you get enough of Paris?
You might also be interested in what Katie at Thyme for Cooking has to say on the whole subject, or any other subject. Maybe it's because we share a Wisconsin-influenced sense of humor, but Katie really cracks me up.
Less than three weeks now...

less than three weeks......how can you sleep! I hope you have started to pack....and repack, making more room for all the goodies you will be toting back home! I just arrived home today.......miss you!
It's getting close! I often think the last days before a trip are second only to the trip itself! I spend half my waking time mentally packing.
Thanks for the praise, Mimi...It's so nice to know that back in Wisonsin someone understands me!
Great photo - isn't spring wonderful?
My big mulberry tree is just at that pretty light green stage.
Yes, I saw it at Katie's and loved her presentation.
Never get enough of Paris!!
Thanks, Jann, Katie and Tanna.
It was more fun anticipating a month or so ago - now I'm trying to cram in too may last-minute activities!
When I lived in the Pyrenees, which was when I first came to France, the bus conductors gave every female passenger a sprig of lily of the valley on the 1st May. I thought that so wonderful. Never seen it happen here tho.

Whoops - Mimi, I meant to thank you for your kind comment on Menton DP the other day. So glad you enjoy it. That comment made my day! Jx
Getting very excited for you!
Mimi,
I just said this over at Katie's, but I'll repeat myself. I was wondering when and where this movie was going to show up in the food blogosphere. I didn't expect the hard sell marketing on the part of the company, but hey, I'm going to go and see if I can't win myself a trip to Paris.

Jilly, I do love Menton Daily Photo and have a trip to Menton planned for the future. At this point, it is a rather distant future. I'm a fan of slow travel, so I want to do it all right.
Kalyn, my challenge will be to stick as much as I can to South Beach while I am in Paris. I will - quite literally - keep you posted. I still plan to enjoy the occasional chocolate and baguette (well, not a whole one!).
Mary, I'm going to enter, too. Why not? Everytime I see a "Win a Trip" contest, I enter it. So far, no wins. But I keep trying.
I've entered and reentered already...so much fun. Thanks for the tip. Katie was soo funny. I really enjoyed reading her blog today. Gave me a nice break from working. If I was going to Paree in three weeks, I'd never get any sleep. I'd be way too excited. Have a marvelous time.
Judy, the problem with leaving on vacation is that you always have so much to do beforehand to get ready that you are too exhausted NOT to sleep.
The night before is another story. LOL.
are you headed for the city of light?
Yes, indeed, CF, three weeks from this very moment I will be asleep (I hope) in the 7th arr.
I've seen trailers for the film. It looks pretty entertaining. I'm also happy that we seem far enough beyond all that "freedom fries" nonsense that Disney thinks a film set in France is commercially viable.
And as far fetched as the whole "win a trip" thing seems, I actually won a trip to New York a few years ago through Taco Bell's website. So it does happen! Enter.
I'm excited for you! I went to Paris more often when I lived in the USA than now that I live in France...sigh...I'll be taking a trip to Tours this weekend though!
I've won things, too, TerryB, but never a trip, darn! Maybe this time.
Betty, I think Tours would be great. Let's plan to meet in Figeac sometime!
