Bittersweet
I'm down with a cold just now, and not inclined to do anything in the kitchen that involves more than a can opener and some low-sodium chicken noodle soup.
But I will share this with you. Over the weekend I learned that the woman who now calls Grandma Annie's kitchen her own is baking up a storm this season.
I hope you feel better soon Mimi. Winter colds suck! Keep up with the soup and rest as much as you can. Now that Bittersweet can brighten up anyone's day. I met this vining glory last fall for the first time. I pinched a small stem which now sits in a ceramic vase on my kitchen counter. I wish it would grow here but know how invasive it is. Thank you for sharing that lovely photo.
Dearest Mimi...Don't forget to rub Vicks Vaporub on the bottoms of your feet, cover with toasty warm socks, and get lots of rest! And if we don't "speak" before Christmas, have a most blessed one!
Ahhh, Mimi, we have colds together...isn't that sweet! I'm going to bed, now....again. Hope you are better soon. The good news is we should both be immune (touch wood) to colds over Christmas...
I hope you feel better soon! Chicken soup is, of course, the #1 prescription for anything that ails you. I've also discovered something called Wellness Formula, by Source Naturals. It's probably available in a health food store or a Whole Foods, if anyone is willing to get it for you. The stuff is nothing short of miraculous. I swear by it, and wouldn't consider going through a winter without it.
But not worth getting out of bed for. Not when you've got chicken soup at home!
How wonderful about Grandma Annie's kitchen! From childhood on, I have left behind a string of apartments and houses. Some have been torn down. But a few of the ones that haven't hold such dear memories for me that I'd love to knock on the doors and see if the current occupants enjoy them as much.
TerryB, we are lucky: The man who bought Annie's house is someone I knew years ago. His wife is the sister-in-law of a friend and former co-worker. All good people!
I am sure by now you are well on the road to recovery-nasty "ole" winter colds! I agree with Lady jicky on a sip or two of brandy to get you back on your feet again! you take care....
I hope you are feeling better now Mimi. I sympathise. Colds are horrible things to endure at the best of times and you sure don't need to be feeling under the weather at Christmas.
I hope you have a great Christmas and very best wishes for the New Year :)

Christine, I do love my bittersweet. And my soup.
Lady Jicky, I will do that - brandy is big up here!
Thanks, Eileen, I can feel my body fighting it.
Katie, I hope you are right!
Cyn, I thought about trying that!

Jann, thank you. I am feeling much better. Colds always hit me hard. Once I catch up on things, I should be able to come up with a post!

Thanks, Betty C. I am much better, although a bit tired. Happy to have a four-day break and then another one to follow.
