The Secret Ingredient

I had big plans for this week.

Tarte Tatin, Red Velvet Cupcakes and a heart-shaped cake in my new Williams-Sonoma pan were among them.

But real life — in the form of deadlines and special projects — has intervened. I have no time. What time I do have is spent curled up on the sofa or soaking in a warm tub of bubbles.

I was supposed to — per Glenna of A Fridge Full of Food — share my Secret Ingredient. Now it will have to wait.

Let's just say the Secret Ingredient is Love.

This week, isn't that enough?

Love is all you need, isn't it?

Then I have the Marsellaise in my head.

Ah, love, that's what this blog is all about.

Very little snow this winter. It's very cold though. Not as bad as a week ago.

I would have loved a cupcake, too.

Love is all you need...love is all you need :)

I'm glad you are taking what little free time out that you have to rest some.
Sometimes loving yourself is more important than loving a cupcake. Take care. Happy Valentines Day with dash of reality and a cupfull of love.

Thanks, Tanna and Kristen! I am so glad to have you here!

I was feeling kinda guilty. . .

Happy Valentine's Day, Mimi. Plenty of time for the kitchen later.

Love is always the secret ingredient, isn't it? And you radiate it through your blog.

Happy Valentine's day, Mimi!

Thanks, Terry B and Toni.

May you enjoy today, with its flowers and hearts and pretty things. This is what we need up here in the dead of winter! Color and love!
I hate it when boring things - a.k.a. work - get in the way of cooking and marvelous food. :(

I hope you get over that soon, dear Mimi! :)

I feel the same way, Patricia.

Wish I did not have to hold down a day job. I would never be bored.

What a romantic blog for today, although it's a bit later across the pond here. I love your photography mimi. I just thought I would take a look at your blog, I am an old school friend of Christine's, as in Christine Cooks.

Thank you, Anne! I'm a big fan of Christine's: she was very encouraging to me when I was just starting this blog.

Oh sure.....Love. I have so many sarcastic things rumbling around in my head to give you a hard time with but in deference of the day I'll just "I'm sure that's it."

Just kidding. I had a bunch of cooking plans too that aren't unfolding, but that's life. We'll get around to it when we get around to it. Happy Valentine's Day!

That''s OK, Glenna, let the sarcasm rip!

I haven't figured out what it is myself yet, my Secret Ingredient, that is!

Real life has a habit of getting in the way of blog life.

Real life does take us away from so many things we would like to give more time to. But you should take it easy when your body tells you it needs rest.

Curling up on the sofa or soaking in some warm bubbles sounds wonderful mid winter.

Happy Valentine's Day Mimi.

Thanks, Julie and Fiona.

I hope that by the end of the week, things lighten up.

What a fabulous photo Mimi. How are you getting the perfect amount of darkness at the top and in the back?

It all has to do with tilting the camera down toward the object, I think, and shining the light on the object.
